These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the website at instepphysio.ca and your engagement of services from In Step Physical Therapy (“In Step”, “we”, “us”). By using this website or booking an appointment with us, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the website or our services.

1. Who we are

In Step Physical Therapy
10667 113 St NW, Edmonton, AB T5H 3H6
Phone: (587) 409-1754
Email: info@instepphysio.ca

2. Our services

In Step provides physiotherapy and related rehabilitation services delivered by regulated health professionals registered with their respective Alberta colleges. Services may be provided in clinic, in your home, or by telerehabilitation, depending on what is clinically appropriate and what you and your therapist agree to.

Every person responds differently to treatment. We do not guarantee any particular clinical result, timeline, or outcome, and nothing on this website should be read as a promise of a specific result.

Our services are not emergency care. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency department.

3. Information on this website

The content on this website – including articles, videos, exercise descriptions, and condition information – is general information only. It is not individual medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and it is not a substitute for an assessment by a qualified health professional who knows your history. Do not begin, change, or stop any treatment or exercise program based on this website alone.

4. Booking, cancellation, and missed appointments

Appointments can be booked by phone, through this website, or in person. We ask that you give us as much notice as possible if you need to cancel or reschedule. The notice period that currently applies is confirmed to you when you book and is available from the clinic on request.

Appointments cancelled with less than the required notice, and appointments you do not attend, may be subject to a late-cancellation or missed-appointment fee. The amount is confirmed to you when you book and is available from the clinic on request. This fee is not covered by insurance or third-party payers and is payable by you.

We will make reasonable efforts to contact you if we need to reschedule or cancel an appointment on our side.

5. Fees and payment

Fees for each service are available on request and are provided to you before treatment begins. Payment is due at the time of service unless other arrangements have been agreed with the clinic in advance.

Where we are able to bill your extended health plan or a third-party payer directly, we will do so as a courtesy. Direct billing does not change the fact that you remain responsible for any balance your plan or payer does not cover, including amounts declined, reduced, or reversed after the fact. It is your responsibility to understand the limits and conditions of your own coverage.

Claims involving motor vehicle accidents, workers’ compensation, or other third-party funders are subject to the rules and approvals of those programs.

6. Your health information and privacy

Health information we collect in the course of providing care is handled in accordance with Alberta’s Health Information Act and applicable privacy legislation, and in accordance with our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

Information you submit through forms on this website is used to respond to your enquiry and to arrange care. Please do not send detailed personal health information through website forms or email – these channels are not secure. Bring anything sensitive to your appointment or discuss it with us by phone.

7. Communications and consent

If you provide your phone number or email address and give consent, we may contact you about appointments, reminders, and clinic information. Where you have separately consented to it, we may also send occasional marketing messages.

You can withdraw consent to marketing messages at any time by replying STOP to a text message, using the unsubscribe link in an email, or contacting the clinic. Withdrawing marketing consent does not stop appointment-related messages, which we send as part of providing care. Message frequency varies and message and data rates may apply.

8. Artificial intelligence and automated tools

We use software that includes automated and artificial intelligence (“AI”) features in parts of our website, our communications, and our administration. We think you should know where and how.

8.1 Automated messages and assistants

Some replies to website forms, text messages, and chat enquiries may be generated or suggested automatically rather than typed by a staff member, and some appointment reminders and follow-ups are sent automatically. Automated replies are for scheduling and general information only. They are not clinical advice, not a diagnosis, and not a substitute for an assessment by your therapist.

You can reach a person at any time by calling the clinic at (587) 409-1754 or by asking for a staff member in your reply. If your question is clinical or urgent, please contact us by phone rather than relying on an automated channel.

Please do not send detailed personal health information through chat, text, or website forms. These channels are not secure and may be processed by third-party service providers.

8.2 AI-assisted content on this website

Some written content on this website may be drafted or edited with the help of AI tools. All health-related content is reviewed by a regulated health professional before it is published. AI tools can still produce errors or out-of-date information, so website content remains general information only, as set out in section 3, and should not be relied on in place of advice from a clinician who knows your history.

8.3 AI in your care

Where we use AI-assisted tools in the course of providing care – for example to help with note-taking, transcription, or administrative paperwork – the following apply:

  • we will tell you, and we will obtain your consent before any such tool is used in your appointment;
  • you may decline without any effect on the care you receive;
  • any health information involved is handled under Alberta’s Health Information Act and our Privacy Policy, including the requirements that apply when a service provider processes health information on our behalf; and
  • no AI tool makes clinical decisions. Your assessment, diagnosis, and treatment plan are determined by your treating therapist, who remains professionally accountable for your care.

8.4 Automated collection and AI training

You may not use automated means – including scraping, crawling, or text and data mining – to collect content from this website for the purpose of training, fine-tuning, or developing any artificial intelligence or machine learning model, without our prior written permission. This restriction is in addition to the rights reserved in section 10.

9. Your responsibilities

To let us provide safe care, you agree to give us accurate and complete information about your health history, medications, and symptoms, and to tell your therapist about anything that changes during your course of care. You also agree to use this website lawfully, and not to attempt to disrupt it, gain unauthorized access to it, or use it to transmit harmful code.

10. Intellectual property

The content of this website – text, images, video, logos, and layout – is owned by In Step Physical Therapy or used with permission, and is protected by copyright and trademark law. You may view and print content for your own personal, non-commercial use. Any other reproduction, distribution, or republication requires our written permission.

11. Third-party links and services

This website links to and embeds third-party content and services, including video platforms, booking and form tools, and analytics providers. We do not control those services and are not responsible for their content, availability, or privacy practices. Your use of them is governed by their own terms.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, In Step Physical Therapy is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of this website or your reliance on its general information content. Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes any liability that cannot be limited or excluded under Alberta law, including liability relating to the provision of professional health services.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The version posted on this page is the current one, and the date at the top shows when it was last changed. Continuing to use the website or our services after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada that apply in Alberta. Any dispute will be dealt with in the courts of Alberta.

15. Concerns and contact

If you have a question or concern about these Terms, your care, or your information, please contact us at (587) 409-1754 or info@instepphysio.ca. Concerns about the conduct of a regulated health professional may also be directed to the professional’s regulatory college.
